Expat Bulgaria SOFIX UCITS ETF received a license for trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange

20.12.2017

Expat Bulgaria SOFIX UCITS ETF received a license for trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (XETRA). The trading in Germany will start on 10 January 2018. The Expat ETF is the first Bulgarian financial instrument registered for trading on a large western market.

Expat Bulgaria SOFIX UCITS ETF is the only Bulgarian exchange traded fund (ETF). The fund tracks the performance of the main Bulgarian stock index SOFIX. It is organized and managed by Expat Asset Management, and since September 2016 is traded on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange – Sofia. The crosslisting in Frankfurt aims to simplify the access of foreign investors to the Bulgarian stock exchange. Thus, Expat Bulgaria SOFIX UCITS ETF will become the transmission of capital flows from all over the world to the Bulgarian capital market.

The official announcement of Deutsche Boerse can be found here.

In the beginning of December, another 4 passive exchange-traded funds of Expat Asset Management were licensed (following the performance of the main stock indices of Greece, Romania, the Czech Republic and Poland). Licensing procedure of 6 more funds for six other countries in the CEE region is currently in progress. Thus, the family of Expat's ETFs will be expanded to 11 funds. Expat plans to list all of them for trading on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange – Sofia, and then on the Frankfurt and London stock exchanges.
